This is a flashcard for the word 'apple' in Italian. I use these to build vocabulary. You can also use flashcards to teach phrases, shapes, numbers, letters and anything else you can think of. I am not the best artist, but it gets the job done. Anyone can do it as long as you have time and motivation.

You can make your own masters and photocopy them as needed. Once again repetition is key. The more you expose your child to a word, a letter or topic, the more chances of them learning it and remembering it.
I just drew the letter 'A' and drew a few things that begin with that letter. While my son completed the worksheet I told him what each item was. If your child can read, tape labels on everything around you. Every time your child approaches the item, have him read the label. This will help build his vocabulary. If your child cannot read yet, don't label anything, but simply tell your child what everything is and use it in a sentence. For example, 'chair', 'We sit in a chair'. Do this until the child has learned what the items are called. This is a board book about animals. As you can see I translated the word 'Cat' to Italian. I read these kinds of books to my children frequently to build their vocabulary. Picture dictionaries are also great. This is a picture book my children love. I only read it in Italian. As you can see I wrote the translation underneath. This helps me read fluidly without having to stop and translate. It also allow me to reread the book the same way each time, children learn through repetition. |
